Antisocial Behaviour (Dis)Order
2004-11-29
While paraphernalia has been commenting heavily on the absurdities of the war on drugs in the USA, it seems that Tony Blair is working harder to transform the once proud United Kingdom into a colony of the USA, a sad fate for the country that gave the world the Magna Carta
Not content to follow GWB in deceiving the world regarding Iraq’s WMD, it is now clear that the current British government is busy copying a page of the Homeland Security book of colored deceptions to plant vague scare stories here and there in the media .
As always, the war on drugs remains a cornerstone of the politics of fear. While it is reported that nearly two-thirds of Brits believe that recreational drugs should be controlled by the Government and given out by doctors and pharmacists, the "New Labor" new drug war policy appears designed for Labor-cum-Tory to try to over-compensate its Bush Inferiority Complex Disorder by “cracking down” on drugs. As the latter are mostly inanimate objects, the victims of this new policy will once again be non-violent users. The new law gives the police the power to test suspected users on the spot, while also making it more difficult to claim that possession is for usage, and not for dealing. Once again, more users will be branded dealers, and will thus facing harsher sentences.
In reading about the Labor’s new drug policy, paraphernalia had huge laugh learning about Antisocial Behaviour Order . Please read this and see what useful work politicians are doing with your quids. Either Iman Blunkett has learned a lot from Ayatollah Ashcroft, or the shariah is already in force in the UK. Of course, Mr. Blunkett is now facing some law and order issues himself, regarding his abuse of power, but that is only a small matter. In any case, paraphernalia urges users to be careful, as it seems that breaching an ABSO linked to your non-mentionable XXXX- taking is also a crime. Of course, one can only presume that Prince Harry on pot or Tony Blair’s son Euan lying in his puke are unlikely to get on the receiving end of one of those dreaded ABSOs (although paraphernalia does indeed understand why someone called Euan can exhibit a certain level of antisocial behaviour...)
paraphernalia does not really understand why smoking a joint has ABSO potential while undergoing rebirthing a la Blair is considered normal social behaviour. However, paraphernalia does remember the Mirror headline following Bush’s re-election. Given Labor's recent stance on things, paraphernalia prays it won’t have to say the same things about the British come the next election……. Lib-Dem anyone?????
