The lovely lady pictured above is Kimora Lee, the wife of Russell Simmons. She was recently arrested for drug possession. Mr Simmons is one of hip-hop most famous artists. As founder of Def Jam Records, he managed to transform hip-hop from an underground urban art form aimed at, and developed solely by, black American urban artists into the ubiquitous sound of this generation, and the replacement of rock as the basic beat of global youth. While managing to become fabulously rich in the process, he has also formed the Hip Hop Summit Action Network, a group devoted to change the notorious and barbaric Rockefeller Laws which have decimated the life of drug users in New York. Kimora herself is a talented woman, having successfully developed the BabyPhat line of products.

Mr Simmons was critized by activist for being used by the New York authorities in delaying reform by focusing on flash more than substance in his work. Hopefully, the arrest of his wife will provide renewed focus to his efforts in helping changing these laws.

In the meantime, paraphernalia cannot fail to notice that this is one of the most gorgeous mugshot ever made. Kudos to Kimora for keeping composure in dire circumstances!
