Sorry about that, kid.....

The mother who is thought to have died after drinking some water spiked with Ecstasy by her son had no trace of the drug in her body, police said today.

Detectives at Scotland Yard arrested the woman's 15-year-old son on suspicion of manslaughter after her death at their home in Putney, South London, on May 12.

The boy was alleged to have crushed a tablet of the dance drug into a glass of water, intending to offer it as a prank to his 11-year-old sister.

It had been believed the 39-year-old woman, who was also taking medication for multiple sclerosis, accidentally drank the concoction and suffered a serious reaction leading to convulsions. She died an hour later at Kingston Hospital.

The teenager has now been released on police bail after the results of initial toxicology tests showed no trace of the drug in his mother's bloodstream.

He and his sister are believed to be staying with their father, who was divorced from their mother.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said today: "There was no trace of Ecstasy found in the woman’s blood and the cause of death has yet to be determined.

"We are awaiting results to further toxicology tests."

Government figures show there have been more than 200 deaths in the UK related to Ecstasy use since 1996.
