Well, plastic surgery is probably more dangerous than most drugs.

Jamie Lee Curtis has blamed plastic surgery for getting her hooked on drugs.

The American actress, whose own father, Tony Curtis, was renowned for drug-taking, has been off drugs since marrying her husband and sober for six years.

The 46-year-old began the fight to give up alcohol after realising that she was not around for her young daughter, now aged 18.

The daughter of Psycho star Janet Leigh said: "Getting sober exploded my life.
Now I have a much clearer sense of myself and what I can and can't do.

"I'm more successful than I've ever been. I feel positive where I never did before."

The actress, who is famed for having a perfect body, said cosmetic surgery was a "stimulator" for the drug abuse.

She has previously admitted having "some work" under her eyes and "a bit of Botox" on her forehead, and has also had liposuction, but said none of the procedures ever worked.

The A Fish Called Wanda star told Reader's Digest: "Genetically, I have the possibility of being a plump person.

"When I found it starting to happen I attempted various types of plastic surgery, minutely, but enough to stave off this encroaching middle-aged body.

"And every time I did, something went wrong... I felt misshapen, just not natural any more.

"I think it was a big stimulator of my drug abuse... It was during a cosmetic procedure that I first had painkillers."

She added: "I'd anaesthetise myself on a daily basis. I found painkillers helpful because they did the job without the messiness of alcohol."

The actress, who married Christopher Guest, the director and writer behind This Is Spinal Tap, in 1984, burst on to the screen in Halloween when she was
20.

Two years ago she caused a stir by being photographed in a magazine with no make-up or digital wizardry, next to an airbrushed version of herself.
