The usual disproportionate sentence imposed on drug users....

Two local men, who were produced before the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday to face drug charges, were sentenced to jail upon pleading guilty.

Ahmad bin Hj Mahmud, 38, faced a charge of possessing Methylamphetamine, a second charge of consuming the class A drug and a third charge of possessing apparatus used for the consumption of the same drug, also known as Syabu.

The defendant is a third time offender on all the three charges and was sent to jail for four years and six months. The court heard that the defendant committed the offences at a house in Kg Bengkurong on February 2, 2002.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Zefri bin Matzin was sentenced to three years imprisonment for a charge of consuming Syabu at Kg Perpindahan Mata-Mata, Gadong on February 1, 2003. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
